  • The following claim has been submitted for increases to terms and conditions from January 2026:

    Unite are seeking the following increases to terms and conditions for operatives, apprentices and trainees, employed under the JIB and SJIB Agreements for the Electrical Contracting Industry:

     

    • Rate Differential Strucure 2026 

    The restoration of the differentials between the apprentice and craft worker (electrical grade) as this is vital to maintain the occupational status of an electrician as a skilled craft worker and ensuring that workers are paid appropriately for their skills.

    Increase to be applied to Stage 1 Apprentice Rate of 3.6% to be reverse engineered to the agreed differential Benchmark of 40% of the Shop Employed Electrician Rate with all subsequent rates lifted appropriately. Appendix attached.

     

    • Improvements to Travelling Arrangements

    NWR 11.2 (ii) & SJIB NWR (B18&B6) - to refer to HMRC Approved Millage Allowance Payment (AMAP) Rates- 45 pence per mile. Calculated for actual distance travelled by the operative (Home to Job)

     

    • Improvements to Sick Pay and Welfare

    Section 9: 1.3 & SJIB Appendix B1-Replace the scheme with an index linked structure of National Living Wage (NLW) minus Statutory Sick Pay SSP.

     

    • Improvements to Pension arrangements

    Employers to match as a minimum, the contribution of the Employee- 5:5.
