We the undersigned oppose in the strongest terms LBG's recent initiative to undertake a review of employees working compressed hours in P&P and Consumer Lending and to potentially move them onto a working pattern of seven hours a day. We also oppose this pilot becoming wider policy across LBG.
This review is not only unneccessary, but is also a step backwards from LBG's stated aim of creating a modern, inclusive and flexible workplace with work-life balance and gender equality at its heart.
It unfairly impacts women, parents and carers - many of whom are looking at now having to reduce their hours due to their personal or caring commitments and take a pay cut in the middle of a cost of living crisis. The consequence of this will be increased in-work poverty and a greater gender pay and pension gap. Furthermore, many colleagues who work flexible or compressed hours to support a healthy work-life balance stand to lose out considerably.
We call on the bank to recognise that this poorly thought-out review does not have the support of employees, is out of step with modern working practices, and to withdraw it immediately.
